on design...
Your vision is what needs to be fully realized. While I'd love to create mind-blowing graphics all day long, I believe my strength lies in developing what my clients have in their minds, and what serves their specific audiences best. I enjoy finding the balance between form and function, without sacrificing one for the other. If your website or brochure doesn't look good, no one is going to give it a chance. If your site doesn't function easily or your message is unclear, it is bound for failure.
Furthermore, your input is absolutely essential to the success of what I do. I may have an eye for what looks good, but you know your business better than anyone, and you know what is important to its success. Together, we will make as many revisions as are necessary in order to achieve success; even if that means admitting defeat, and starting over from scratch. The designs I create are not my own, they are yours - I simply consider myself a medium in bringing them to light.
on the creative process...
The creative process is one of the most natural and enjoyable processes in all of business. I love taking the rough thoughts my clients have in their minds and taking them further than they ever thought possible. It may only be a simple business card, but for many people that is the beginning of the realization of a lifelong dream, and I try very hard to always keep that in mind.
From our first meeting and discussion, on through to development and production, it is the relationship between your vision and my creativity that creates the finished product. It's in this relationship that strong partnerships are formed and where ideas and dreams become reality.
on service...
If you were to ask any of my clients they would probably say that I live in front of my computer... compared to many, they may be right. While I do allow myself a break here and there, I try very hard to stay as connected as possible and respond to my clients' needs in a timely manner. I think most of them are surprised and perhaps unaccustomed to such prompt service and turn-around times - but I don't think you'll hear any of them complain!
You will never be asked to sign a contract or commitment; preferring to let you continually evaluate my work and its worth to you. I am confident that I provide a valuable service at reasonable costs. To quote Jonas Salk, "The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more."
on pricing...
One desk, one chair, one computer. By reducing overhead to the most essential elements, I can deliver the same agency-level solutions that I always have; but at far more approachable pricing. I also realize that in our current economy every penny counts. I utilize my extensive list of vendors and contacts to find the best pricing for my clients without compromising quality or service.
on search engine optimization...
SEO is the newest and most misunderstood catchphrase in our field these days. The simple truth is, there is no magic formula to make your site rise to number one in the search rankings. It simply requires your site to be built correctly on the back end, a strong network of steady visitors, and a true usefulness to its audience. If your site doesn't appeal to those who search for it, you will never be number one. The better job you do at serving your visitors and marketing your site as a whole, the higher it will climb... it's as simple as that.
I take pride in building my sites properly and always keeping search engine friendliness in mind. I do it form the start, and I do it throughout. There is never an additional charge to make your site more "optimized." If it's constructed properly in the first place, there is simply no need.
on social media...
Social Media is another huge boon in our field. It has never been so easy to contact so many so quickly and it can be both exciting and overwhelming. Many companies prefer to stay away from sites like Facebook, because they feel it conveys a less professional image. In some ways that may be correct, but the fact is you are on them whether you participate or not. People are talking about you, and the only way to control what is displayed is to join their network. By creating your own pages, you can ensure that your image is broadcast in a manner which is cohesive with your ideals and other marketing efforts - and you can show more people than ever how great you are!
on sustainability...
Printed materials have a limited shelf life. No matter how timeless a design we create, the reality is that the materials they are printed on are not. In an effort to minimize the effects on our environment, I prefer to use vendors who utilize soy-based inks and recycled paper for printing. Internally, I practice paperless accounting and file storage; and encourage my clients to do the same.
